Basic Scrambled Chickpeas



  • 1 (15 oz) can chickpeas, drained (reserve some of the liquid)
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 clove garlic, minced or pressed
  • salt, pepper, or hot sauce, to taste



  1. Mash the chickpeas in a large bowl with a fork or give them a quick spin in a food processor.
  2. Add the turmeric and garlic.
  3. Heat this mixture in a pan over medium heat with the addition of a little chickpea liquid or water to keep it from sticking.
  4. Stir until heated through.
  5. Season to taste.
