A letter from Angel at the City of Duluth on Monday, November 29, 2021:

Good morning!
I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. There are a few things coming up in December.

I.ACTIONABLE TIP – More ways to save

Last week we shared some tips to save money during the Holidays. This tool was shared with me and might be helpful if you’re looking to keep track of the Cyber-Monday spending: The Scrooge-O-Meter Calculator:  https://www.lssmn.org/financialcounseling/tools-and-resources/calculators/holiday-spending

II. UPCOMING EVENTS

1. TED BOWMAN ON LOSSES, DISTRESS, AND BURNOUT  December 8, 11-1pm – Hosted by Juniper

The costs to workers who routinely address challenging situations and distressed persons can be huge. Fatigue and burnout can be occupational hazards. In this session, perspectives and tools useful in working with others will be augmented by attention to the needs of helpers and their own resiliency and hope. This session is open to agency and community leaders, staff, volunteers, direct care workers, caregivers, and anyone else interested in this topic!

2. DECEMBER 9 – DR. ANTON TREUER’S SEMINAR – The Library is hosting this free seminar at 6:30pm on Thursday, Dec 9. How can we connect with all of the children and families in our area and set them on a path of educational attainment and healthy living? How can we equip all of our stakeholders to navigate the diverse world in which they live? Join celebrated scholar and racial equity advocate, Dr. Anton Treuer, for a look at tools and strategies for engineering positive identity development in all of our children and navigating the sometimes confusing and stressful universe of cultural diversity.

Registration is required. The event will be recorded and shared after, so you are welcome to register even if you cannot attend.  All registrants will be entered to win one of Dr. Anton Treuer’s books!

Join us, on Wednesday, December 15 at noon, as Alisha Ross, Health Coach for Profile by Sanford-Duluth shares some tips and ideas on how to keep our bodies healthy and happy during the holidays and beyond.
