Workshop Admins:
Chris Johnson, DECC Marketing Coordinator & Renae Matt, DECC Wellness Coordinator

During this workshop, we reviewed options on how to plan for retirement and different options we have available to us. Here at the DECC, we have two programs that you may even know about! PERA (Public Employees Retirement Association) and MNDCP (Minnesota Deferred Compensation Plan). You can contact our Payroll Manager, Annette Nemec, at anemec@decc.org to find out if you are enrolled/eligible.

There was a lot of great information at this workshop. Some of it is included here:

Workshop II on 11.14.2019
Focus:
 Dumping Debt
Workshop Admins:
Chris Johnson, DECC Marketing Coordinator & Renae Matt, DECC Wellness Coordinator

During this workshop, we focused on the concept of the “debt snowball” and why it WORKS. By creating a budget, you assign where your money is going to go that month. Then you are able to review and see where you can make adjustments to squeeze as much “extra” out of your budget as you can. That extra gets applied to whichever Baby Step you are on. If you are on Step 1, it goes to your first $1000 emergency fund. If you are on Step 2, it gets applied to your smallest balance in your debt snowball. Working your way through the steps, you will be on your way to financial peace!

Workshop I on 11.7.2019
Focus:
 The Power of Budgeting
Workshop Admins:
Chris Johnson, DECC Marketing Coordinator & Renae Matt, DECC Wellness Coordinator

During this workshop, we focused on the concept of budgeting and why it works. We did some hands-on activities to walk you through setting up a budget from scratch. If you weren’t able to make it to the workshop, check out the video below or our handy budget printable to start organizing your monthly budget.
